Advantages Of An Adolescent Evening Outpatient Program

by | Dec 8, 2017 | Health

As parents, you probably never thought of your teenager doing drugs or drinking alcohol, and when you realize that they are, you only want to get them the care they need to get off the drugs and lead a normal, healthy life. However, sending them to an inpatient facility where they’re monitored 24/7 may not be the best choice. It may be better for them to continue with school and be able to sleep in their own beds. Therefore, an adolescent evening outpatient program could be the right choice.

What Is Involved?

With an adolescent evening outpatient program, your child is still allowed to go to school or get home education throughout the day. There are usually two phases, where phase one gives them two hours of group meetings twice a week, as well as individual counseling once a week for at least 12 weeks. During phase two, they will have two hours of group once a week, as well as an individual counseling session once a week for at least eight weeks.

During this time, they will learn about mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which can help them learn why they drank or did drugs and what other methods of release they have available for them.

Sobriety Based

The goal for such programs is to get your children off drugs and alcohol, which means they must abstain from using while in these programs. That is good news for everyone because you won’t have to worry that they’re continuing their drug use and they can learn about healthy habits.

Such programs work well for teens who have poor social and/or problem-solving skills, as well as those who are chemically dependent.

An adolescent evening outpatient program is an excellent choice for teens who need help with substance abuse and don’t want to be kept away from family. Visit Options Family & Behavior Services, Inc. now for more information.
