Need Dental Implants, Get Them in Chicago

If you have one or more missing teeth, or you have had enough of your denture slipping, or if you are concerned about weakening your teeth to support a bridge, dental implants are the ideal solution.

Dental implants are greatly improved since they were first introduced in the late 1950s. Today, dental implants are the preferred solution for replacing missing teeth. Implanted teeth are permanent. They will not slip, they help restore your confidence and improve your smile. The actual implant is a small titanium pin or screw. The dentist in Chicago determines the specific location; the gum is opened exposing the jawbone. A small pilot hole is drilled to accept the implant. Over a period of some months, the implant and the bone become one. The implant is a replacement tooth root. On the top, the dentist fits an abutment that supports a crown.

The Implant Process

The process of replacing the tooth with a dental implant is a three-stage procedure. The first is the actual implantation. Stage two is the healing process, and stage three is placing the crown.

During the first stage, the dentist surgically implants the titanium “root” into the jaw bone. For patients that do not have enough bone at the implant site, the dentist can graft bone, often sourced from a cadaver. Although this procedure extends the process, it does allow anyone to benefit from an implant.

It normally takes upwards of eight to nine months for the implant to become one with the jawbone. While this is happening, the dentist will keep the site covered.

The final stage is placing the abutment and crown. The crown is a duplicate of the missing tooth and is made to match the color of your teeth. Once the process has been completed, you can eat, speak, and smile without any impediments.
