Diesel Thermostat Repair

The diesel thermostat regulates the level of coolant that goes through your radiator. When found to be faulty, make sure you repair the part right away. If inoperable, this can lead to engine overheating and ultimately destroy your engine.

To replace, inspect the area surrounding the thermostat and clean up any debris, rusting or corrosion. Some fluid will leak, so make sure you have something to collect it. Pull off the radiator hose and the bolts that are surrounding the old thermostat. You can now lift the part up and replace with a new thermostat. Before you install, make sure you replace the gasket with a new part and remove any of the old stuck on pieces. You can now screw back on the bolts and reinstall the radiator hose. Check your fluid levels and refill any if necessary.
