What do you get when you combine the great outdoors, a GPS Navigation System, and a buried treasure, all while moving through outdoor trails, woods, and streams to find hidden caches? A new and fun worldwide game called – Geocaching!

Geocaching is a treasure hunt that uses high-tech instruments to help you find hidden caches. The days of burying treasure in the sand and using a map to find it are long gone, as this game involves using GPS devices to locate the treasure (no gold in these though!). Your treasure could be buried anywhere in a designated area. Geocaching is an exciting family event if you are looking for something to do that is challenging, involves group participation, and is fun for all ages!

How It Works
The process is quite simple, participants are given a GPS device and are sent out into a local wooded park with a guide to find caches  that have been strategically placed by leading Geocaching guides. You will be given the coordinates where these caches are located, but it is up to you to find them. Since you use a GPS systems – this is far more challenging than a regular treasure hunt because the items are hidden over a very large area.

What is the Treasure?
If you sign up for a Geocaching Adventure tour where the treasure hunt is customized your Geocaching guides can hide anything to your liking. For example, if you will be organizing your game with your children, you might want the treasure to be a gift certificate for something that your children will want. Likewise, if you are heading out with a work group, you would probably want something that is work related to be the end goal. These geocaching hunts are completely customizable and, therefore, you have a say on the search goal.

What are the benefits of Geocaching?
1. GPS Usage
2. Problem Solving Skills
3. Communication
4. Working to solve problems with others
5. Environment
6. Exercise and an appreciation of nature.
