Helpful Advice for Getting Auto Body Collision Repair Estimates

by | Jul 4, 2016 | Autos Repair

Whenever you are out on the road, the last thing that you would want to experience is a car accident of any sort. Unfortunately, no matter how careful you are, it is almost inevitable that something undesirable may happen during your time driving to and from your home. When you finally get a good look at the damage that has been done to your vehicle, how do you know how much it will cost you to repair everything? Before you go find a shop that offers collision repair services, here are a few things you should do that might help you have a better idea of how much money you may need to shell out.

1. Make Sure You Do Enough Research

Before you accept just any estimate given to you, try to look into the history of the shop that you are thinking of going to. Have they been around for a long time? Do they have a lot of good reviews on reputable websites and from credible reviewers? Don’t just stick to one shop, either. Try to get several estimates from several stores—at least three, at the very minimum—so that you can compare prices and see if one store is trying to trick you into paying more than you really have to. Better yet, ask for recommendations from friends, according to The Huffington Post.

2. Don’t Instantly Pick the Cheapest Price

Just because an auto repair store quoted you an amount much higher than you expected doesn’t mean that you should rush to bring your vehicle to the one with the cheapest prices. Instead, be wary of any store that offers services at rates that seem to be too good to be true. Oftentimes, they are, and you might end up paying for more money to fix a costly, amateur mistake.

3. Get Started on Your Own

You might end up getting an assessment way too late if you wait for your insurance company, meaning you can’t get on the road as quickly.
