How the Best Church Events Can Call You to Action

How the Best Church Events Can Call You to Action
For more than two millennia, people have found a sense of guidance and community from their local churches. It is one of the great lasting legacies of church life, that they can provide a sense of belonging and helpS people find their place. The best churches take it a step further, however, translating that sense of community into tangible, planned action. Here, then, are a few great church events which all Christians should consider. Charity Drives One of the central tenants of the Abrahamic faiths is charity. We see it in the sense of community shared among the Israelites. We see it in in Islam’s conception of zakat and giving back to the poor. And, of course, we see it throughout the New Testament, from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount to Chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians, wherein we’re told that “Charity suffereth long, and is kind,” and “abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” Among the noblest of church events, therefore, are those which concern charity. The best churches honor the spirit of Jesus, Paul, and the Abrahamic tradition by holding charity drives. Volunteering for such events is a great way to make these teachings come alive – the act of Charity ennobling the charitable as well as the recipients. Bible Study and Engagement Seminars One of the great services of churches throughout their history has been to get people to engage with and think about the Bible in different ways. This can sometimes lead to great social change, from the Protestant Reformation to the Biblical overtones of Martin Luther King’s Civil Rights rhetoric. As such, some of the best church events are all about getting people to follow that centuries-old tradition and re-engage with the text. You’ll have the chance to hear others discuss their views on Biblical concepts, and you’ll be able to share your own as well, gaining a fresh perspective and learning to respect those of others. What is a Congregational Church?

What is a Congregational Church?
Many people in Jacksonville attend a Congregational Church without actually knowing what the term means. The term “congregational church” refers to a church that is essentially self-governed. Instead of answering to a group of bishops or elders as in a hierarchical model, a congregational church answers directly to God in administering its own affairs. Many congregational churches in Jacksonville are non-denominational, because by definition they opt for a model that eschews human hierarchical organizational structures. They are non-denominational because the Bible recognizes no denominations. There is only “one flock, one shepherd,” and that shepherd is Christ (John 10:16). The principles of congregational churches are rooted in the Bible. “So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another,” (Romans 12:5). Christians form a community that is sacred and are whole and integral, not in need of hierarchy or external regulations by a governing body. The Bible also shares with you the wisdom that “God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple,” (1 Corinthians 3:17). Congregational churches are not anarchic, though. Far from it, congregational churches have strong internal leadership that allows the community to remain cohesive, organized, and on point in pursuing their faith. However, the congregational church does not require ascription to external rules. Congregational churches remain relevant to their congregations because their congregations are “one body in Christ,” and are “that temple,” which Jesus ordained. Christ is the only true cornerstone of any church, not a human leader who is fallible. The leaders in a congregational church need only to faithfully follow the tenets of the Bible, leading the “flock” or the congregation towards Christ. “Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son,” (Hebrews 3:6). Members of the congregation are entrusted and empowered to recognize false prophets and to keep each other in check. In Jacksonville, congregational churches offer strength and solace for the local Christian community. Be the first to like. Like...

Seeking a New Spiritual Home: Evaluating Different Christian Churches in the Area

Seeking a New Spiritual Home: Evaluating Different Christian Churches in the Area
After settling in the new home, it’s time to become part of the community. Many people find that one of the best ways to do so is to visit some of the Christian Churches in the area and see which one would make a good spiritual home. Here are some points to ponder when visiting any church and determining if it really is the right place for the family to attend. Walking the Walk There are many churches that do a good job of talking the talk, but not all will walk the walk. When visiting any of the Christian Churches, pay close attention to signs the congregation puts their faith into action. Does it seem that the culture of the church includes reaching out to help those who are less fortunate, extend kindness to one another when someone is going through a difficult time and, in general, bring the Sermon on the Mount and the Two Great Commandments to life? If there is a sense the congregation tends to be insular and does not live out the Gospel in the way they interact in the community, it would be a good idea to try a different church. Making Visitors Welcome Ideally, individuals should walk into any church and be greeted warmly. Some congregations do a better job of this than others. If there is no one on hand to say hello, provide a printed order of service, make sure the guest knows where to find the restrooms and, in general, help the person feel at home, that congregation may not be a good fit. By contrast, a warm welcome and people coming up after the service to introduce themselves and invite the visitor to come back any time are good signs. That church is worth a second look. Having a church home provides the opportunity to be of service to others as well as receive emotional and spiritual support. Take a moment and visit Wolhawaii.com today and take a look at what the congregation has to offer. After a few visits and interacting with others who attend, there may not be the need to keep searching. You can connet with them on Facebook for more updates! Be the first to like. Like...

Top Reasons To Attend Church Services

Top Reasons To Attend Church Services
Many people these days are not attending any Church Services. Some people opt out because they do not consider themselves religious and feel that a church has nothing to offer them. Some people feel that they are “spiritual but not religious” and choose to pursue an individual path. Some people have religious faith but have not made church attendance a priority in their schedule for one reason or another. If you are on the fence about Church Services, consider the following reasons for attending. First of all, the word “church” refers to the group of people who worship God together, not the physical building where they meet. Attending services means, joining a group of people in worship and developing a sense of belonging and connection with those people. Fellow church members can offer each other support and help in time of need, for example, when a member is ill or hospitalized. People who worship together also celebrate important milestones together, like baptism, marriage, welcoming a new baby, and even death. These days, many people live far from their parents and other relatives; a church, however, can fill that gap. Another reason for attending church services is to have an opportunity to serve others. Many churches take an active role in the local community with projects like feeding the hungry, providing after-school programs for children with working parents, visiting elders in nursing homes, etc. If you have the impulse to help out in your community but are not quite sure how to go about it, you can find a church that is already involved in the mission that calls to you and join in. Churches also offer opportunities for education and spiritual growth. Many people think it’s a requirement to be 100% firm and unquestioning in your faith, but in fact, most church members struggle with questions and doubts. Many churches nowadays offer small group faith learning programs where people can discuss some of the hard questions and find out how other Christians have tried to answer them. Churches come in many different flavors, and no church is “one size fits all.” If you want to develop your Christian faith, try some of the different churches in your community to see if you can find the right fit.
